I want you to know that I heard about your game from an Instagram ad. I don't want to give Meta any of your money, so I searched it separately. I haven't played yet, but I've been looking for something exactly like this.
Hey JdreedGM! Thanks for saving us from paying meta, appreciate it. Thanks for the kind words! I hope you have fun, and happy map-making! If you’re inclined we have a discord where folks discuss the game and share maps, you’re welcome to join here: https://discord.gg/VEtVq4H6Wp
Hi, I adore the game and had a great time with it, is there a place the community gathers? If not, let go here and ask some questions I have about it #1 temporary dice seem to be the best option to use for hunting or Rest Phase. There are quite a few cards that grant them. Is that intended? #2 In Arrival Phase, you draw one card and use for both journey and location table. Is there a some patter to the pairings, because to me, it seemed more intuitive to draw a new card for each #3 Sometimes prompts ask you to lose a resource you don't have, including step one in Arrival Phase. I assume then nothing happens, but it feels a bit wrong to leverage such rules. I am considering imposing a penalty like wound or losing dice, Any thoughts?
Hi GreenFlame! There is a pretty passionate group of Cartographers on the Ravensridge discord, you can join with this link: https://discord.gg/VEtVq4H6Wp.
Yes, temporary dice are great to lose for hunting because you were going to lose them anyway :)
There is no reason you couldn’t draw a new card for each. In fact I tend to play this way when I run games at conventions, because it increases the chances of drawing Jokers. But, no, there are no thematic pairings to the cards between journey and location tables.
On page 17, the rules forbid you from taking a bonus from a prompt if you have the choice, but for prompts that have you lose a resource you don’t have (or the arrival step), nothing happens, rules as written. For a more challenging game however, suffering a pentalty seems like a great idea!
Hi lorenmj, unfortunately we just ran out of stock for both the journal and playing cards! at this stage, we don’t have plans to get any more in, sorry!
Had the opportunity to take part in a five-player collaborative Cartograph session guided by Brandon at Briscon 2025 this weekend, and it was awesome. So much fun "Yes and"-ing each other's suggestions resulting in a magical world that none of us would have come up with on our own. It will be a while before I can stomach the idea of eating cheese again, mind you...
Hi! I'm a history & geography teacher from Brazil. I started a RPG Club in the school I work at and I'd really like to show my students this game! We've recently played Artefact by Jack Harrison and this would be a great follow. Unfortunately, being a public school teacher and with the currency in Brazil as it is, we can't afford to buy the game. Would you have any idea of when any more community copies might be available? Thank you so much!
I had an afternoon free and decided to play this on a lark after hearing it played on Friends at the Table - had a lovely time with it, filled a moleskine over a few hours, enjoyed myself immensely.
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you ever wanted to share the map you made, we have a discord server with just the place: discord invite
I have been trying to crack this particular problem for a few months now, as I really want to run some online games for our discord server! However, I’ve yet to find a good solution. Short of using Tabletop Simulator, which is a bit feature-heavy for Cartograph’s needs, I haven’t found any application that can handle both rolling dice onto a page and being able to draw on said page.
The atlas edition of Cartograph is a revised ruleset with over 40 **extra ** pages of content. It has double the number of prompts, tables for naming locations, wares, coin, hunting, and all manner of other things. It also includes an expanded character creation, and rules for multiplayer, non-authoring mode, and peaceful mode. It also contains advice for hacking the game.
What do you do when you are told to 'Mark and name a discovery'?? I take it you put a '?' on the map area but there is no naming table for discoveries. So I am a little confused.
Hi! The rules for marking locations is mentioned on page 22 - but yes you are pretty much correct in that you put a ? on the map! As discoveries are all very different, it was impossible to make a name generator table for them, so you’ll just have to use your imagination to name the discovery!
Hi, I recently acquired a hardcopy of this at supanova. Are the character sheets available somewhere to play as a pdf, or will I have to purchase this pack to get them? Cheers
Hey there! Thanks for the support! I can supply you with all the digital files - the next printing of Cartograph will have a QR code that will take you to free downloads, but alas it was not something I considered for this printing. Could you send me an email at theravensridgeemporium@gmail.com and I’ll send you the files!
The use of “fame” in the value and disposition section is there to show you that you can come up with your own (a descriptor that isn’t on the table). Certianly fame and notoriety are similar (although I’d argue there are slight differences between the two descriptors) it is ultimately up to you the player to determine how you interpret the descriptors. Hope that answers your question!
I am super hyped about playing it after seeing some reviews! I'd like to pre-order the physical edition; does it give access to the pdf, to start playing before August?

what is required to get the deck of cards that go with the game?

Glad you enjoyed it! Ya’ll were a great group - I’ll be forever curious how the jellyfish people were driven underground in their own homeland

Hey maeyloue, that sounds like an awesome RPG club, I wish I had one of those when I was in school! I’ve just added 100 more community copies.
Happy map making!
hi there. Just wondering if you ever add community copies. I run a ttrpg group for my middle school students and I think they’d like trying this.
Sure, I’ll add some now!
thank you very much!

I really love your game thank you! Is there any chance to wait for a low-ink printer friendly version? It will be really cool to print and play :)
Hey cemuka, thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately I don’t have the capacity right now to make a printer friendly version, apologies
Would you happen to have tips for playing Cartograph online, Brandon and team?
I have been trying to crack this particular problem for a few months now, as I really want to run some online games for our discord server! However, I’ve yet to find a good solution. Apologies I couldn’t be of more help!
No need to apologize, yeah it's the rolling onto a paper that is hard to replicate in online gaming.
Thanks a lot for the reply, Brandon and team.
Great GM less map making game.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it
I really like it thanks Ravensridge Press team. The prompts are really great.
Hi I'm someone who has the old version of cartograph, What is the difference/updates that makes this version better? or is it the exact same?
Hi there,
The atlas edition of Cartograph is a revised ruleset with over 40 **extra ** pages of content. It has double the number of prompts, tables for naming locations, wares, coin, hunting, and all manner of other things. that does help, thank you!

Email sent, thank you
How many pages is the book? Is it better to print it as a hard cover or soft cover?
The book is ~90 pages, and the phyiscal copy is hardcover. Hope this helps!
Where I can buy the hardcover?
You can purchase it from our website here: theRavensridgeEmporium
Thanks for checking out the game!
On page 7, is it meant that either 'Fame' in the text or 'Notoriety' in the table be the same thing? If so, which word was intended?
Hey Lorenmj,
The use of “fame” in the value and disposition section is there to show you that you can come up with your own (a descriptor that isn’t on the table). Certianly fame and notoriety are similar (although I’d argue there are slight differences between the two descriptors) it is ultimately up to you the player to determine how you interpret the descriptors. Absolutely love using this to build out regions of my fantasy world! 100% Recommend for fledgling map makers
Hey thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying Cartograph! 🧭

Hey thanks so much, I hope you enjoy the game! Yes the pre-order should come with the digital files too 😊
Thank you! That's an insta buy for me then ^^
This looks amazing. Would love to play and review on yt channel, do you ever do review copies?
Thank you! Yes I do review copies, would you kindly send an email to theravensridgeemporium@gmail.com and we can chat!
Hello, the cartograph dice icons's rar file is damaged and doesn't open.
Opens just fine for me on Windows using 7-zip.
Opens for me using NCH Express Zip. Bit of a shock actually first RAR file I have managed to open!
Hey Alessioserini, I am able to open the rar file and the files seem to be in tact. What unzipping application are you using?
Winrar
I usually use 7zip, but I downloaded the files and tried it with winrar and the files are not corrupted. Perhaps try a different unzipping software?
Hey Alessioserini, I’ve added a zip file rather then a rar file into the downloads, try that and see how you go
